Love

25 06 2008

This is a different kind of post than I normally do. But I’ve been thinking about stuff a lot for the passed 3 days and I found it funny that someone asked me a certain question while these thoughts were in my mind. The question was this: how do you know when you’re in love?

And the best explanation I could come up with was as follows.

“Being in love is reaching the point where you put her interests and passions and life as your first priority. You’re willing to do anything and everything for her. You’ve decided to put up with every little insignificant imperfection, while continuing to see her as perfect. And that doesn’t even begin to explain the feeling.”

Why would I post this? Oh i guess you could say I’m feeling a little sad lately. But it’s okay. It will pass.

Space Shuttle Discovery Due Home Tomorrow @ 11:15AM EST

13 06 2008

Ever since I was a child I’ve loved space exploration. I just watched the launch video of Discovery for eight minutes and couldn’t get over how amazing it was.

I can’t wait till they bring out the new craft that will replace the Space Shuttle and begin going to the moon again!

Yahoo! and Google Together

13 06 2008

Google sure got the good end of this deal. Apparently Yahoo! screwed up so bad with the Microsoft talks, they have to resort to partnering with their biggest and strongest rival, Google.

As soon as September Google ads will begin showing up on Yahoo! and its partnering sites in the U.S.

Unless, of course, the antitrust committees find some way to shut the deal down (which is what Microsoft and some other groups are doing everything they can to make happen).

If Microsoft wanted Yahoo! so bad, they should have upped their bid from $33 a share to $37 a share like Yahoo! wanted. Big Deal. They have the money! There would be no need for all this run around.

My prediction is that Microsoft will eventually buy Yahoo! within the next 12 months.

Major shareholder in Yahoo!, Carl Ichan, is calling for the company’s current board members to be let go, stating that they handled the Microsoft talks horribly. He says he has a slate of new board members that would turn everything around and get Microsoft to come back to the table.

All the while, Google only stands to profit it seems. That’s fine with me. I hate Yahoo!

Google Co-Founder To Go Into Space

11 06 2008

I just read an article on MSNBC that Sergei Brin, co-founder of Google, payed $5 million to a company called Space Adventurers as an investment, in return for a trip to the International Space Station. The company purchased a Russian Soyuz flight for private use–the first time this has ever been done.

According to Space Adventurers, they plan on offering trips into space to their big-time investors.

Sergei Brin was quoted saying, “I am a big believer in the exploration and commercial development of the space frontier, and am looking forward to the possibility of going into space.”

Everything always has to end up being commercial doesn’t it? Not really interesting until you can make money on something. What a greedy way of life.

Mistrial in the Case of a Man Who Shot 6 Jewish Women

5 06 2008

America is a wonderful place. I am very happy I live here. But America’s justice system is as corrupt as, well, I cannot even come up with an appropriate simile. The point is, our justice system is messed up.

A man walks into an office building (the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle)holding a girl hostage at gunpoint two years ago. He makes anti-Israel and anti-semitic remarks, and then he begins shooting women. Six women. One dead.

Walk up to any (and by any I mean the average) person and read the above paragraph to him. Then ask him if he thinks the man is guilty of murder and attempted murder, in addition to racism. I’m pretty confident the average person would say, “Obviously he’s guilty of murder and the other charges.”

But not when his brilliant defense attorney pulls out theĀ  classic”not guilty by reason of insanity” plea. I’ve watched my fair share of “Law and Order.” Most of the time, an insanity plea is used in situations where the evidence against the suspect is so mountainous there is no way they can deny he did the actions he is being charged for. It’s an escape attempt. It’s almost a get-out-of-jail-free card.

“Oh, your Honor, he’s insane. He didn’t realize he was saying racist things and shooting women. He thought he was playing a video game.” to which our totally unbiased (yeah, right) Judge replies, “You know what? You’re right. Let’s place him in a mental institution until he is declared mentally fit to return to society.”

Then after 2-3 months of “recovery” he is back living at his own house with nothing but a slap on the wrist, if that.

50-60 years ago, this man would be guilty after one day in deliberation between the jurors. Can you believe the jurors in this case were deadlocked for eight days? Eight days! For eight days half of the jury was swayed by the lawyer’s witty insanity plea. “Oh you know he does seem kinda crazy with his hair messed up and his clothes wrinkled and his thick glasses.” My goodness. People are so naive.

Yes, I know, I’m speculating some of these things because I was not actually at the trial or in the jury chambers. But really it couldn’t have been much different than that.

I just find it amazing how far the justice system has come. Not only in this case but in general. We kill babies because since they aren’t outside of the womb, they’re just fetuses. What kind of sick people think that’s okay?

If you think abortion is okay and the right of a woman, you’re wrong. And I will tell you that till the day I die. Who are we to say whether or not a living creature has the right to live. We are denying a human being the right to live and grow up and have its own chance at a life that would outlive us, all because we want to live the way we’re living for a few more years before settling down to start a family. Shame on us.

But I digress. That’s a discussion for another post.

Clinton to End Campaign for Democratic Nomination

5 06 2008

Alright so it’s 2:15am and I just read some political news, so of course that means it’s time to post.

I just read that Hillary Clinton is going to officially end her campaign and endorse Obama as the Democratic presidential candidate. Honestly, I can say I am quite relieved. There was a part of me that really thought she might win the primary. But obviously American democrats felt differently.

I will say, I don’t believe Obama is a bad person or anything. He’s much better than Hillary. He has some very good ideals and visions for America. But I am a republican. I was raised republican. And I have a strong belief in republican ideals.

America is not a democracy. It is a republic. Yes, there is a difference. But that’s another issue for another blog.

McCain is the man I intend to vote for in November at this point in time. Between the statements I’ve read from each candidate (and I’ve read quite a few), McCain’s ideals are almost a reflection of my own right now. Like I said, Obama has some good ideals, but as far as my ideals, they are not a close match. I am a very conservative person when it comes to politics. It probably has to do with how I was raised, and by the fact that I’m a Christian.

I’m not going to outline the conflicting points between Obama and McCain, not in this entry at least. And I’m not saying Obama is the devil. And by no means am I saying that McCain is God’s gift to the republican party.

All I want to say is that McCain, in my opinion, shows the best and most logically attainable vision for the removal of troops from Iraq. I firmly believe Obama will realize if he is elected that he will not be able to bring our troops home as immediately as he promised us.

All I ask of anyone who reads this is please, don’t vote based on parties. “Oh I’m voting for Obama because the republican’s really screwed up with Bush.” or “Oh I’m voting for McCain because democrats just support homos and abortions and the like.”

Don’t vote based on race. Yes. I guarantee that people will vote for McCain because Obama is black. And I know that people will vote for Obama because he is black, too. You see what I’m saying?

Vote based on the ideals. Watch the debates. Read their statements. Investigate. Vote for the person that you think is the best choice to lead our country in a way that takes us into prosperity, security, and freedom. That’s all I can ask of you.

I will not try to sway anyone to vote for a particular nominee. I will simply explain my opinions, and try to best show the truth. You will never see or hear me bash Obama. I may bash his ideals, but not him as a person. Please see the difference.

Former Press Secretary for Bush Writes Book

5 06 2008

This is bothering me. This former press secretary for President Bush writes some book making all these bogus claims about the Bush Administration right around the peak of a public unrest with the current President to whom 2 years earlier he was completely loyal. In his own book he says that everything he said as press secretary was sincere but he’s supposedly come to realize that he was misguided.
Don’t people realize he is just taking advantage of the general unrest among people about Bush?

In a poll on MSNCB, 46% of people say that he wrote this book out of remorse and trying to make ammends. Who the heck is he trying to make ammends to? He’s blaming everything on Bush. So essentially he’s saying he was blameless for anything he said. 32% of people (me being one of them) say that he wrote it due to the fact that in the unwinding months of the Presidents last term he was trying to cash in and make a pretty penny. This is pretty obvious. The book was supposed to be released this Monday, but instead it was pushed up to last Wednesday. The sooner the better of course!

In another poll from MSNCB, a staggering 78% of people say they believe the Bush Administration lied about the majority of information that they used to start the war in Iraq, and only 19% (me being one) believe we really should be in the war. The former press secretary said in his book that the al-Quiadda connections in Iraq were completely fabricated. That is ridiculous. Look at the news! Almost everyday there is a terrorist attack on our troops. These aren’t just random kids saying “Hey let’s go destroy a tank!”

And while I’m on the topic of the war, another thing the American people need to realize is Obama and Clinton are making a huge promise they cannot uphold, while McCain is setting a plan that is actually attainable. Obama and Clinton say they are going to withdraw the majority of troops from Iraq as soon as one of them is in office. Everyone thinks that sounds wonderful. But do you realize that when they get in office they will realize it’s not something that can be done? If they were to pull 75% of our troops from Iraq, within no time a revolt against the new decomcratic council would break out, and we’d have to go right back over if we had any hope of keeping things the way they were.

McCain on the other hand has a plan to withdraw troops in a steady schedule that allows our troops to train a capable Iraqi army to control the major issues in the country, while leaving a small amount of our troops at a base over there like we do with every country we’ve ever had a war with. The troops would be home completely by 2013. That’s what will end up happeneing no matter who is in office once they realize the undertaking they are trying to do.

I wish people wouldn’t look at all republicans as they do at President Bush. I have a feeling that most people will vote democrat just because they are tired of Bush. And there are a lot of people out there who will vote for Clinton just because she’s a woman.

Just what we need. A new war will break out once a month. Most people should get why. No offense to women, I have nothing against a working woman and what not. But as a Christian, I do believe its a Man’s job to lead, whether it is leading his wife and children, or leading his country. If Clinton were a true Christian woman i’d be a little less wary of her. But she is so obviously not. She is just a politician trying to become President.

Wow it’s pretty late. Time to go to sleep. If you disagree with me feel free to let me know your point of view. But please do me a favor and don’t send me anything like “oh you’re retarded blah blah.” Because that won’t solve anything. You’ll just be bashing me instead of trying to explain what you think of all this.
